Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York
Join Us As We March Down Fifth Avenue!
New York City's Greek Independence Day Parade and the week-long celebratory cultural events are an opportunity to see, be seen, and interact with our vibrant and proud community. We appreciate the members and friends of our community that observe the parade and cheer on those in the procession as we strive to present you with the history, culture, and achievements of our nation.
The parade is a reflection of the communities created and advancements reached in our new homeland, and we wish to present that with your participation. If your community, church, school, or organization would like to join the procession with either a marching group and/or a float, please complete the participation application and we will contact you to make the required arrangements. Participation in the parade is open to all, although the Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York reserves the right to inspect participants and floats for compliance with our guidelines. A suggested donation might be requested depending on the nature of your organization and if a float will be employed.
The Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York organizes a large number of cultural, educational, and philanthropic events throughout the year, and the parade is a significant source of funding for these benevolent programs. We rely on your donation as well as advertising revenue to reach our funding goals. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization and all donations are tax-deductable to the full extent provided by law.
Community members that would like to assist us in organizing the parade are invited to join our weekly public meetings (every Thursday at 8 pm) or visit our offices at the "Stathakion Center" (22-51 29th Street, Astoria, NY 11105).
Commericial entities that would like to participate or advertise in the parade can complete a participation application form or review the advertising options available. Participation or advertising in the parade is subject to the inspection and approval of all material and activities by the Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York.
For those participating in the parade or those simply looking to cheer on their compatriots and friends, please View the Order of Parade Battalions for April 18, 2010 that includes both marching units and floats.
